The 8 A.M. Blues The alarm clock screams, it’s 800 on the dot, I slap it so hard, it mightve forgot. Five more minutes, just let me be, I’m dreaming of beaches and coffee by the sea. Oh, the morning’s a race, I’m barely awake, Every second’s a battle, how much can I take? From snoozin’ to schmoozin’, I’m barely alive, But somehow I’ll make it by 835. I roll out of bed, my bladder’s on fire, Stumble to the john like a drunken choir. Then into the shower, I’m feeling the chill, This water’s so cold, it could power a mill. I brush my teeth, I comb my hair, One sock’s over here, the other’s... somewhere. I wash my face, and I’m back on the track, Walk the dog while I fight a sneaky back crack. The TV goes on, the news is so grim, But I kiss my girl, “Good morning to Kim!” The cat’s meowing, its bowl’s looking bare, I toss it some food while I gulp for air. Oh, the morning’s a race, I’m barely awake, Every second’s a battle, how much can I take? From snoozin’ to schmoozin’, I’m barely alive, But somehow I’ll make it by 835. Coffee’s a must, I brew it so quick, Burn my tongue—well, ain’t that slick? Out the door for a walk, but time’s running tight, I’m dressed for the day, but my socks don’t match right. Keys in my hand, but where’s my phone? I swear I just had it; it’s off on its own. I check the fridge; there’s nothing to eat, So I grab a granola bar—breakfast complete. Traffic’s a mess, I’m stuck in a line, The clock’s moving fast, but I’m lagging behind. I park in a rush, sprint up to my desk, Another day started—a beautiful mess.[outro][Instrumental Interlude][fadeout][end]
